Prefab Ponds Make Adding Waterworks Easy

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Similar to prefab homes, prefab ponds are built in a factory and shipped to a building site, where they are installed according to local regulations. The main difference between prefab ponds and those that require a liner is the ultimate shape of the pond. Additionally, a pond with a liner is more prone to liner damage that can drain the pond quickly. Solar Ponds Keep Water Clean And Aerated

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

In order to maintain adequate fish habitat throughout the winter months, the use of solar ponds is continuing to grow. Initially designed to reduce salinity in the water near coastal towns, they are now used to improve aeration during the winter months as well as provide continuous pumping action to keep water pumps performing without the need to electric power

Larger ponds may accumulate algae on the surface, which can quickly overtake the surface of any pond or small lake, reducing the amount of sun and oxygen available for aquatic life. With solar ponds, pumps operate by solar power and charged batteries can automatically be switched to keep the pumps going all day and all night. This reduces the amount of algae growing in the water pumping the water into the air can add precious oxygen for the fish and other underwater life.

What Are Retention Ponds?

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

As areas become more and more developed, retention ponds are often needed to help with the large volumes of water that come with run-off from rain storms or melting snow.

The Importance Of Retention Ponds

Whenever an area is developed, it changes the natural pattern of how water is distributed in the area. Retention ponds were developed to help with this problem. When changing the landscape due to building roads, houses or other structures, the ability of the ground to absorb water is reduced. Concrete does not absorb water, leaving standing water that becomes a major hazard quickly. Flooding on highways and in neighborhoods can be the result of the grounds inability to absorb the water. Retention ponds are made in order to direct this excess water to a temporary holding place. Retention ponds can also fill up, and overflow areas need to be made to drain the water to an appropriate and safe place.
