Gothenburg Botanical Garden - Sweden

The Gothenburg Botanical Garden was established about 1910, as a botanical garden with an extra emphasis on horticulture. The garden is situated 3.5 km south of Gothenburg downtown and could be reached by tram, bus and car. Today the botanical garden is one of largest botanical gardens in Europe. In the garden you will find about 16 000 different species at 175 hectares. It contains a rock garden, a kitchen garden, perennial gardens, Japan glade, rhododendron valley, greenhouses and an arboretum. We would recommend visiting the Rock Garden which has received three stars in Guide Michelin.  For more information about the Gothenburg botanical garden: http://www.gotbot.se

The Arboretum and Botanical Garden – Bergen, Milde, Norway

The arboretum was established in 1971, and the new botanical garden in Bergen was established in 1996. The park is situated about 23 km south of Bergen downtown in idyllic surroundings next to the Fanafjord. The botanical garden has a perennial garden, a large rock garden and a Japanese garden. In the arboretum you will find one of Norway's largest collections of roses, which have about 500 different species and sorts, and probably one of the largest collections of rhododendron in Scandinavia, which has 300 species and 600 sorts. We would recommend visiting the cottage garden to the “Blondehuset” in the arboretum. For more information: http://www.uib.no/arboretet/en

The botanical garden - Oslo, Norway

The botanical garden in Oslo was founded in 1814 as a part of the University of Oslo. Close to the Munch Museum, you will find this green oasis located at Tøyen in the eastern inner part of the city of Oslo. The botanical garden could be reached by walking 1, 8 from Oslo downtown, travel by metro, bus or by car. In garden there are s systematic garden, a rock garden, two small greenhouses, a great-granny's garden, herb garden and a scented garden. There are approximately 7 500 species from different corners of the world in the garden. We would absolutely recommend visiting the garden in the spring when the magnolia and the dove trees is in bloom. There is also a very nice collection of old perennials in the great granny’s garden. For more information about the garden: http://www.nhm.uio.no/english/visiting-nhm/botanical-garden/
